Thank you for visiting my website.  Creating art is something I've always enjoyed doing. I enjoy drawing just as much as painting. I also enjoy sculpture very much and am hoping to explore it more in the future. My work can be whimsical, funny, serious and dark . My style has evolved into using Surrealist Automatic Drawing techniques with my own unique style. I use acrylic on canvas to present abstract paintings that I hope will challenge the viewer. My works are born by combining my unique designs with my own take on abstract expressionism and cubism. I have been creating and selling art since 1997. Each painting is an original work of art that you can be proud to own.

Creating art relieves the creative impulse I've had my whole life, and I really like doing it.
I've been creating art seriously since 1997.
My work has been purchased by collectors across the US.
I've had some formal training but am mostly self taught.
My work as an advocate in healing through art for veterans has been featured on Fox 4 news, The Art of Living on the Veria Network, and many newspaper articles.
My work has been published on the covers of a few publications.
I've been a finalist in a "prestigious" art competition.
I am a veteran of the first gulf war.

Please contact me with your ideas, for a studio tour, or to just talk art.

Thanks and enjoy,
Phil

"The Emperor Arrives" 16"x20"

"The Emperor Arrives" is a painting completed in 2009 using a burned spray paint and gas technique.  Another from the series "Oppressive Dominion", this painting features the same dark figure as "Victory Conquered".  The red and yellow give this piece a richness to go with the interesting texture created from the technique used to paint it.

"Windows Present" 16"x20"

"Windows Present" is a painting I completed in 2010 using acrylic paint.  It's the continuation of a series of heads I've painted throughout my career.  It's unique in that the background has a dusty chalkboard-like quality leaving the viewer to wonder whether the features of the head were created by the wiping away of the chalk dust, revealing the black chalkboard underneath.

"The Sunday Funnies go to Wall Street" 11"x14"

"The Sunday Funnies go to Wall Street" is a painting which was completed in 2010 using acrylic paint.  The painting is the result of smearing, scraping, and brushwork.  The painting gives me a feeling of satisfaction but I'm not sure why.  Its mood reveals something serious in a not so serious way.  I continue to look at this painting in hopes that it will reveal itself completely some day.

"Gemini" 36"x48"

"Gemini" is a painting I completed in 2009 using acrylic paint.  It's one in a series of astrological paintings I've produced over the years.  This one I've reproduced from an 11"x14" version that I painted in 2006.  The larger format allowed me to play with the background much more and to bring the painting to a level of primitive expressionism that was impossible to achieve in the smaller version.

"Ancient Familiarity" 16"x20"
"Ancient Familiarity" is a painting which was completed in 2009 using acrylic paint.  I started by chopping earth tone color and white together to create the thick bar running from top to bottom on the right.  I then used the same tool and the color that remained on it to create the lines behind the dark free form design.  I then developed the free form image on another canvas.  The free form design that is present is a monoprint of that development.
"Victory Conquered" 16"x20"
"Victory Conquered" is a painting completed in 2009 using a burned spray paint and gas technique.  The dark feel of the piece and the oppressive figure standing before a nearly unrecognizable V shape is just one in a series titled "Oppressive Dominion".  The technique in which this painting was created has given it a uniquely interesting texture.
